Casa Rural Pagalván is located in the hills directly north of the city of Malaga, just 8 kilometers (5 miles), as the crow flies, from the city center. The entrance to the property is located on the rural road MA-3101 in the town of Los Gamez. The road continues along Camino lo Galván.

The town grew along this old road, which runs from Malaga to Casabermeja and originally to Madrid. Today there are about 300 inhabitants, and it is a very quiet place except on weekends. The area is famous in Malaga for its numerous “ventas”, the traditional Spanish roadside bars/restaurants. On weekends thousands of Malaga residents come here to enjoy long family lunches.

Connections & Activities

Going down towards Malaga from the house, the country road joins the A45 motorway for about 3.5 km. from the entrance of the house. The A45 is the main road north from Malaga to Madrid and the large Andalusian cities of Granada, Córdoba and Seville. This makes the house an excellent base from which to tour the interior of Andalusia: most of the historic centers can be reached on a day trip.

Approximate driving times from the house are: Granada 80 minutes (seasonal Sierra Nevada ski resorts are a further 25 minutes away), Córdoba 90 minutes and Seville 2 hours. Towards the south, after just 1 kilometer, the A45 joins the main coastal road, the Mediterranean Highway, which passes by the airport from Malaga towards the west and continues towards Marbella (45 minutes) and Gibraltar (90 minutes). To the east is the small but very international coastal town of Nerja (45 minutes).

Most visitors to the Costa del Sol head to the beaches and golf courses that stretch from Torremolinos to Marbella and Estepona. All of these locations are easy to reach via the excellent coast road, which is just 3.5 km away from the entrance of the house.
